A Message From the Regional Director

David Schepper
David Schepper -- Regional Director

I wish you a happy new year! Each time I begin my time on call for chaplain duty I pray that I will not be needed that week. I hope that is not a selfish prayer, but it is my prayer that nothing significant will happen among the citizens or our department that it would be necessary for a chaplain to show up. I am certain God knows best about future events and how I can help. So, though my prayer is one way I am prepared to be called on for ministry. The chaplain is rarely called to deliver good news. We don’t know what 2009 has in store, we do know it will be another year of new opportunities for ministry.

Are you making plans for the Regional Training Seminar to be held in Wichita Falls, TX? I have been in touch with Keith Jenkins, he is confident that things are falling into place and Wichita Falls will be ready for our arrival. For information about the 2009 RTS see “Regional Training Seminar” on the main page. There you will be able to get RTS information, schedule and even download a registration form if you did not receive one by mail (or perhaps you lost yours). Now is the time to make arrangements with your department concerning this valuable training.

Would you like to host an RTS? Please contact me and I will provide information to help with your decision. It will be good for your chaplain program, your department and your community.

While you are thinking about it why don’t you forward a link to the Region 7 website to someone. It is easy and they may not know about what is available in the region. Cut and paste the address http://www.icpcregion7.com into an e-mail. Or “send link” from the “File” menu.

Remember: Every day opens up to new opportunities! Into the future we go with God!
